ERA Celebrated DuPage River Trail Groundbreaking with Village of Plainfield and Plainfield Park District

ERA’s staff helped break ground on the Plainfield Park District’s segment of a 29-mile trail
PLAINFIELD, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) celebrated the Plainfield Park District’s DuPage River Trail groundbreaking ceremony at Riverview Park on Wednesday, June 23. ERA staff joined Plainfield Park District park board commissioners, staff and Village of Plainfield officials to kick-off construction which is scheduled to begin in July.
ERA was retained by the Plainfield Park District to provide design and construction engineering services for a segment of the DuPage River Trail from Riverview Park to the ComEd right-of-way at 143rd Street and Route 59. When all completed, the DuPage River Trail will span 29 miles from Naperville to Channahon. Construction of this segment is expected to be completed during the fall of 2010.
The Plainfield Park District received over $1.2 million in American and Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding for trail development. These funds are being used in conjunction with Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), federal SAFETEA-LU funds and local funding participation by the Park District and the Village of Plainfield.
