ERA will provide environmental and engineering services
WHEATON, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) was retained by the City of Wheaton for the Shaffner Road Streambank Stabilization project. ERA’s Department of Environmental Services will implement stabilization techniques to temporarily protect the Shaffner Road surface until a long-term design can be designed and permitted.
Shaffner Road connects Roosevelt Road (Illinois Route 38) to the north and Mack Road to the south, and runs along the eastern boundary of Cantigny Park and Golf Club. The project site boundary is the drainage ditch within the right-of-way along the west side of Shaffner Road, and extends from Roosevelt Road south approximately 600 feet to the Cantigny outfall. Streambank erosion within the drainage ditch is causing severe undercutting on portions of the roadway, due to water level fluctuations, erosive velocity, and vegetation loss. As a result, these destabilized areas present a hazardous condition that requires immediate repair.Engineering Resource Associates, Inc.
