ERA will prepare levee certification documentation for FEMA
ELMHURST, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) has been retained by the City of Elmhurst to assist with their levee accreditation project. ERA will prepare a levee certification package to submit to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Tasks will include data collection and evaluation of the levee system in accordance with federal certification standards.
The Elmhurst levee system was constructed along Salt Creek in response to the 1987 flood. The levee system includes embankments, flood walls, structures, interior drainage systems, operation and maintenance all working together to protect the area otherwise inundated by the 100-year flood. The Elmhurst levee system includes four segments totaling approximately 7,300 linear feet. Five stormwater pump stations are in place to evacuate drainage behind the levee.
