ERA's Director of Land Surveying leads discussion and answers questions about surveys
LOMBARD, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) is hosting a free seminar for current and prospective clients. ERA's Director of Land Surveying, Don Rericka, P.L.S., will present "Land Surveying: What Am I Buying?" on Thursday, July 17 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Fairfield Inn & Suites at 645 W. North Avenue in Lombard. Mr. Rericka has 20 years of experience including: 11 years of field experience and 8 years managing crews, performing research, interpreting boundaries, and preparing plats. In addition, he holds the position of Adjunct Instructor of Surveying at Triton College since 2000 and is one of the founders of the Associates in Applied Arts Program in Land Surveying at the college.
During this free seminar, attendees will gain a better understanding of what they are getting when they order a survey, what is being surveyed, and the rules that surveyors abide by. The discussion will highlight boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/ASCM Land Title surveys, the dreaded "mortgage inspection," how the land is divided, the U.S. Public Land System, the Plat Act, Illinois state statutes, standards of practice, and the surveyors code of ethics. Continuing education credits are available.
