ERA completes feasibility study for a proposed sanitary sewer extension
UNICORPORATED LEMONT, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) has completed a feasibility study for a proposed sanitary sewer extension beneath the I & M Canal in unincorporated Lemont, IL. ERA was contracted to provide services by a chemical company which currently discharges pre-treated sanitary waste directly into the I & M Canal. In order to comply with IEPA guidelines and reduce user fees, the owners requested ERA’s assistance in providing a feasibility study, focused on probable costs, for connecting their discharge pipe to the Village of Lemont sanitary sewer system. ERA studied existing topographical conditions, land rights, and connection fees. ERA also obtained rock-augering price quotes for work beneath the canal, and contacted suppliers to coordinate the design of an adequate pump system to be used in tandem with approximately 1,000-ft of forcemain. ERA’s final product included a bound report with detailed calculations, cost estimates, conceptual designs, and recommendations to the owner.
